A wonderful scarce date 1921-s Buffalo Nickel in F+/VF condition with much luster remaining under light toning creating splendid appeal! What a looker this coin is and the scan does not do justice. This coin is really a slam dunk VF with a little flatness to the head (about 3/4's horn) and very highpoint weakness or or light wear to the Bison's back. An oddity to this coin is the mint mark which is mushy. Upon close examination I am guessing the die cracked between the mintmark and the rim as a couple lines of slag can be see attaching the lower portion of the S to the rim. It also can be seen from the right portion of the N in CENTS as well as the lower serif of the S. On the obverse a crack developed from the L of Liberty to the Indian's forehead which can barely be seen in the scan. Lastly there are a couple of darker spots at the high points of the devices. These are actually slightly shiny spots on the coin and the reflection from the scanner makes them appear dark rather than shiny. I am hypothesizing they are slide marks or maybe she went through a counter which caused a very slight abrasion on the reverse where the F of Five cents meets the rim as well as the mound....can't even see this with the naked eye unless the light catches it right. All in all a fabulous looking specimen and would fit just superbly in any higher grade set! (sorry for the lint which appears as white specs)
